A Naperville lab built around one competition

We coach students from their first robot to the World Robot Olympiad world stage. In 2026 our teams represented the United States internationally, and we ran a sanctioned national qualifier ourselves.

We do not just coach teams. We run the competition.

In August 2026 Launchpad Robo Lab was awarded the rights by the US Engineering League, the national organizer of World Robot Olympiad competition in the United States, to host a sanctioned national qualifier. We ran the WRO Chicago Open Qualifier 2026 end to end at the University of Illinois Chicago: venue, officiating, scoring and awards. The opening ceremony was attended by a state senator, a Chicago alderman and the head of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the UIC College of Engineering.

Running an event teaches you things coaching alone does not. We have seen what separates a team that places from a team that does not, from the scoring table rather than from the stands.

Who teaches your child

Both of us coach. Every program is built and led by us, and we write the curriculum that anyone else delivers.

How we work

Teams are two or three students. Nobody hides at the back, and nobody does all the work while the others watch.

Students build and program the robot. We coach, review code and ask hard questions. We do not hand a team a finished design, because a judge can tell in about ninety seconds and so can your child.

We place every student ourselves. Age and previous experience tell us part of the story, and the rest is a conversation. You do not have to work it out from a web page.

We will tell you when something is not working. Sometimes that means a different program, and occasionally it means not yet. We would rather say so than take your money for a year that goes nowhere.

The lab

We are at Unit 001, 1315 Macom Drive, in the White Eagle Center in Naperville. Competition surfaces, robots and laptops all live here, so there is nothing for a family to buy and nothing to store at home.

If you want to see it before you decide anything, come and look. That is what the assessment is for, and it costs nothing.
